About the team
Corporate and Indigenous Affairs is the voice of Coles Group internally and externally. We collaborate with stakeholders across our business to better connect and deliver for our customers and each other. By working together, we further strengthen the trust and relatability our brands are known for across Australia.
The Project Advisor is responsible for delivering initiatives in line with the Coles Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan Including:
- Work with P&C to manage Indigenous employment initiatives, with a focus on increasing Indigenous representation in management and leadership roles
- Responsibility to work with P&C on training initiatives and sessions
- Immersion opportunities
- Broader cultural awareness opportunities
- Other opportunities under general ‘Belonging’ pillar
- Work with Marketing and store managers on integrating First Nations artwork across targeted stores
- Ensure relevant strategies are distilled into practical and feasible delivery plans.
- •Work with P&C to create and deliver bespoke pre-employment programs nationally
- Responsibility to work with P&C on training initiatives and sessions
- Work with P&C around standing up yarning circles around the country
- Standing and implementing state based one mob networks
- Working with our key partners to ensure team members are engaged and attending local events.
Requirements:
- Experience in First Nations community and stakeholder engagement and/or community development / social program delivery with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations.
- Knowledge and experience of First Nations specific, evidence-based contemporary recruitment, retention and professional development policy and practice.
- Understanding and experience in the application of First Nations led and managed ways of working.
- Experience in design and implementation of supported career pathways incorporating evidence-based approaches to training, professional development, and holistic supports for First Nations students and/or employees.
- Experience working with employment providers and tertiary and vocational education providers.
- Strong experience in program management, reporting and data insights and social impact measurement.
- Experience and knowledge in culturally responsive, First Nations-led research and evaluation.
Qualifications:
- Human Resources and/or Talent Acquisition experience is desired.
- Knowledge of First Nations histories, peoples and cultures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong, highly respectful relationships.
- Connection to First Nations communities including established relationships with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and organisations.
- Strategic thinker and ability to apply to a commercial setting.
- Ability to work under limited supervision (includes attention to detail and ability to prioritise).
- Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural team environments.
- Ability to interpret, analyse and communicate data.
- High level written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and report writing skills.
