About the role

The Coles online team is looking for Development Leads to lead our squad of developers. The successful candidate will have strong leadership and people management skills and also an expert in leading vendors. The person will have good business acumen and communication skills.

What you’ll be doing

 

Lead a team of Agile developers on a journey through the Coles Online world, delivering first-class software while employing shrewd leadership techniques to groom a high-performing team and grow a fun working culture.

 

You’ll also have :

  • Practiced understanding of leadership principals
  • Aptitude for people management, grooming & training a must 
  • Strong leadership and vendor management skills
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple technology and business teams
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

 

 

Good things you’ll need

 

We are looking for a seasoned Tech Lead with wealth of experience in Java  and the tools and someone who can lead a squad or team of developers with excellent people management skills.

 

You’ll also need:

  • At least 3 years’ experience leading a team or squad of developers
  • Good exposure to Agile Scrum working environments
  • Experience working in large scale projects and heavy-traffic platforms
  • Deep understanding of the web topology from client to server and all components in between
  • Ability to drive and enforce software engineering practices
  • Experienced in multiple programming languages, and seasoned in at least one object-orientated language
  • Experience in Java and linux
  • Experienced with frontend technologies (HTML5, SASS, JS, etc); exposure to frontend SPA frameworks
  • Experience managing relationships with senior leaders
  • Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills
  • Intimate knowledge of Git and code review tools
