About the role
As a valued member of the Leadership Team at our Kemps Creek Automated Distribution Centre (ADC), the Health and Safety Advisor helps to manage the overall safety performance and safety compliance of the ADC. Reporting to the Health and Safety Specialist of our Kemps Creek ADC, you’ll support the team in all thing’s safety, including providing advice and information to enable the ADC to achieve strategic safety objectives, performance targets and compliance. You'll take pride in fostering and maintaining a work environment conducive to operational excellence and continuous improvement, employee engagement and the highest levels of safe working practices.
Responsibilities:
- Support the safety system activities including data entry
- Provide risk assessments and as required processes with clear guidance on practical risk reduction to ensure effectiveness in managing risk.
- Support the Safety specialist in ensuring site compliance
- Support the implementation of the safety and wellbeing initiatives from the National Safety Plan
- Communicate and engage effectively with teams through consultation and communication of any safety related topics
- Support the safety specialist in activities to align safety responsibilities and expectations with business partners and monitor their safety performance
- Complete spot checks to ensure compliance against auditable criteria
- Supports critical risk and control activities with guidance from Safety Specialist Create and maintain strong and sustainable relationships both internally and externally to the business
- Support the strong, meaningful relationships with key third party partners (e.g. Witron, Vivid, City)
- Support the Safety Specialist in developing a strong safety culture with team members and site management.
- Coach and empower the teams to increase their independence and confidence in effectively leading WHS safety Ensure the Coles Safety System is effectively implemented at the ADC to meet self-insurance requirements nationally
- Provide support in the Operational Excellence Program in the development of solutions to safety related matters.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 year of safety experience
- Preferred experience working in an operational FMCG distribution Centre, Manufacturing or Transport
- Proven record of following direction, advice and applying procedural knowledge
- Proven record of understanding of general hazards and risk processes
- Proven record of providing coaching local site management regarding safety expectations and behaviours
- Sound stakeholder management skills
- General experience for associated WHS regulations and NHVR regulations
Qualifications:
- Formal Qualifications in safety e.g. Cert IV in Safety
- Communicator who can communicate messaging and requirements to ensure safety processes are understood and adopted
- Knowledge of relevant H&S Legislation
- ICAM certificate or equivalent
