About the role


The Insights team is part of Coles’ larger Tech, Engineering, and Data division. Our Insights team main objective is to build large data sets and analytic patterns to identify and uncover customer, product, trends, and business insights. This enables Coles to change retailing as we know it through data driven technology and expertise.


Working with cutting-edge data warehousing solutions, data visualisation platforms and market leading cloud technology, we are able to deliver key data initiatives across the business. Through our cloud transformation journey and cutting-edge data analytic technology, we have enabled the business to operate more efficiently by providing exceptional insights with our exponential growth of data.


The Senior Support Analyst will provide support to all the Insights applications, frameworks, and services. You will provide analytical and operational support, working across complex environments and bringing expert knowledge in data warehousing solutions and concepts.


What you'll be doing


As a Senior Support Analyst, you will be part of the Operations Data Insights team, reporting directly to the Ops Manager – Insights IT. You’ll offer ongoing support to your team and provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders across the business.


On a day-to-day basis, you will maintain and troubleshoot / support complex data warehousing solutions working within a fast-paced ops environment. You are a seasoned expert across data warehousing concepts and SQL design, ensuring the integrity of our systems.


You'll also:

  • Work across high level data warehousing projects within an operations environment.
  • Review ETL code from a support perspective for consistency and quality.
  • Have the ability to administer, configure, monitor, and maintain multiple ETL environments.
  • Proactively improve existing support process by identifying gaps in various processes.
  • Implement and follow best practice for production environments.
  • Work with development teams and upstream/downstream systems teams to ensure there are no unacceptable or degrading impacts to online or key SLA’s


Good things you'll need


We are after a highly skilled professional with considerable experience in ETL tools, data warehousing solutions and proven experience across SQL data base designs. You are a dedicated problem solver, who strives for change, is interested in personal development and growth, and leads projects within a busy and ever-changing organisation.


You'll also need:

  • Extensive knowledge on data warehouse, business intelligence, analytics, and big data architecture, and design patterns are a must.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL & SQL data base development.
  • Strong knowledge in UNIX and shell scripting.
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge in control-m.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure; (Azure) desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Snowflake or other schema workflow concepts is desirable but not essential.
