- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for dashboards, chatbots, and analytical tools.
- Apply accessibility and responsive design principles to ensure tools are effective across devices and user types.
- Provide input on requirements to vendors on user experience to ensure consistency with Coles’ design principles and congruence with other solutions.
User Interface Design
- Design and refine dashboards (such as PowerBI) that highlight key insights, KPIs, and anomalies with clarity and simplicity.
- Develop chatbot and agent interaction flows and conversational UI elements that allow teams to interrogate AI models and internal content easily.
- Create visually appealing and user-friendly AI interrogation tools to improve model explainability (e.g., variance analysis, demand prediction diagnostics).
- Establish design standards, component libraries, and interaction patterns to ensure consistency across Data & AI products.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Work in a product delivery approach (including agile ways of working), collaborating closely with product managers, iteration managers, engineers, and data scientists.
- Partner with product, change and training teams to ensure designed solutions are well understood and adopted in retail operations and the store support centre as required.
- Use data and user feedback to iterate designs and continuously improve user experience.
Experience required
- Years of proven UX/UI design experience, with a portfolio showcasing dashboards, data tools, or AI/ML interfaces.
- Proven track record of delivering design outcomes in agile, product-led teams.
- Understanding of conversational UI/UX principles for chatbots and virtual assistants.
- Ability to design for technical complexity – translating AI/ML model outputs into business-friendly interfaces.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary agile teams.
- Experience with data or AI products and familiarity with data science and AI concepts (e.g. forecasting models, recommendation systems, large language models etc.).
- Experience within the retail industry preferred.
- Experience creating and maintaining design systems.
- Experience working with offshore teams, including managing design handovers, collaborating across time zones, and ensuring design integrity through distributed delivery.
Commercial Skills and Formal Qualifications
