The Data Team within the broader Coles Technology Team focuses on building data collection and analytics capabilities to uncover customer, product, and operational insights. Providing data driven support to our users and enabling Coles to be a data driven organisation.
About the role
We are embarking on engineering, enablement, operations, and delivery of key data initiatives, building them using market leading cloud technologies including Azure DevOps, Azure Data Factory, DBT and Snowflake.
The Technical Lead designs engineering solutions and ensures all parts of the technical design are correctly incorporated to provide technical support and technical quality control throughout all stages of the project.
You will mentor and guide teams to achieving great outcomes and maturing their capabilities, as well as overseeing all aspects of project deliverables including architecture and design to ensure all parts technical design are strategically aligned.
In addition, you will gather technical requirements and provide effort estimates and delivery timelines, as well as develop and deliver projects within the agreed timeframes and budgets. The role will also provide weekly status reports to management and other stakeholders.
- Resolve technical issues and ensure all parts of the technical design are correctly incorporated.
- Provide technical support and technical quality control throughout all stages of the projects.
- Oversee all aspects of project deliverables including architecture and design to ensure quality and strategic alignment.
- Gather technical requirement and provide effort estimate and delivery timelines.
- Design, develop, and deliver projects with high quality within the agreed timeframes and budgets.
About you & your skills
- Solid hands-on experience in Python and Snowflake SQL.
- Hands-on experience with DBT Core and Source code control.
- Proven experience in data modelling, analysis, and profiling.
- Previously worked in at least one of these cloud technologies: Azure or AWS.
- Proficiency in data pipelining, distributed data processing, software engineering components and data modelling concepts.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines using a tech stack of Git and Azure.
- Exposure to Data Factory and Databrick highly regarded but not essential.
Commercial Skills and Formal Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in IT or a related discipline preferred.
