About the role


Reporting to the Voice and Data Network Support Manager, you will be leading a team across Coles’ highly developed and sophisticated Network Operation Centre (NOC). This role will see you spearhead a team of seasoned professionals that work business hours, and coordinate with night-time on-call personnel. This role will provide management, mentoring, guidance & support to the NOC Engineers and also includes occasional after-hours availability as required.

What you’ll be doing


As the Team Lead – Network Operations Centre, you will lead and support a dedicated and experienced team of NOC Engineers. This role will have you support mission-critical network infrastructure including Core, WAN, MAN, Voice, Wireless and SDN to achieve a reliable, highly available and secure network environment.


You will bring a positive attitude when solving high-pressure technical issues and have previously worked in, and or managed a system-critical NOC environment. You’ll have experience in managing teams, overseeing a fast-paced Network Operations Centre environment, and offering expert advice to internal and external stakeholders. Within your past experiences you will have developed your ability to communicate complex issues to technical and functional stakeholders in a professional, clear, concise manner and offer ongoing strategic support to improve performance. 


You’ll also have:

  • Experience in managing teams of internal and external engineers.
  • Experience with Service Management elements such as incident coordination, situation rooms, and incident bridges.
  • A strong background and understanding of technology trends and issues affecting networks and network security practices.
  • Previous experience in managing and writing technical documentation appropriate for the NOC, i.e., assembling diagrams of new equipment and network configurations, and writing clear standard operating procedures.
  • Experience in Reporting for Management, Stakeholders and Vendors
  • Strong Focus on Change Control, Security requirements & Company policies


Good things you’ll need


We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Team Lead – Network Operations Centre Technologist with proven leadership qualities and the ability to manage large and complex NOC services. Your previous experience should include providing engineering support for network connectivity issues, as well as working as a liaison for carriers and other information technology (IT) technical staff.


You’ll also need

  • Proficiency in working across a large and complex NOC, leading a team of engineers supporting system-critical and scalable network environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of CISCO network technologies is essential.
  • Network Infrastructure experience, including ongoing lifecycle management (LCM), managing and developing support documentation, reports for the NOC and Senior Management. Influencing LCM to address trends of failing or unsuitable equipment.
  • Solid understanding in security frameworks and standards (e.g., CIS/ISM/ASD/NIST/PCI), principles, disciplines and infrastructure.
  • Proven performance in the development of network diagrams and working with detailed designs and process documentation for infrastructure in a large-scale, complex, and distributed business environment.
  • Leading and building ongoing relationships with outsourced partners and vendors to gain operational advantages.
