To understand our merchandise business, we need to understand our customers. That’s why you’ll find us working across all business units at Coles Supermarkets, Liquor and Coles Local. Supermarkets is one of the largest teams at Coles, but we’re a close-knit group that come from all over the world. We’re passionate about working at the forefront of merchandising and making sure our customers have quality products at the right price. 

  

 

About the role 

Reporting into the Program Manager you will be the custodian of specification quality, accuracy, and completeness in the Own Brand product specification database.  

This 18-month opportunity will see you be part of a pivotal project focussing on packaging across our Own Brand team.
  
As a Specification Technologist, you will lead the application of food and non-food specification quality standards and consistently achieve gold standard.  You will partner closely with the sustainable packaging specialist team, product technologist’s and suppliers to support in timely delivery. This will align with brand standards, responsible sourcing commitments and the Own Brand activity plan.      

 

You'll also: 
•    Support in the development of strategic plans to address known gaps in specification completeness and accuracy
•    Partner with and work collaboratively with suppliers to ensure delivery of action plans
•    Ensure compliance with all applicable external laws, regulations, mandatory standards and codes
  

 

About you and your skills   

In this 18-month fixed term opportunity you will need to have demonstrated experience working within the food standard code.  You will have the opportunity to have genuine impact in the work that you will do!  
  
You'll also need:  
•    A Bachelor’s Degree in food technology or equivalent 
•    Significant, relevant experience in food and non-food products, or related subject matter expertise within a compliance vocation 
•    Proven experience in supplier management, investigations, audit response and data analysis 
•    Experience working with both international and local suppliers 
•    Strong planning, time management and influencing skills 
•    High level of expertise in technical documentation
