About the role
As a Senior Solution Architect, you will be a key contributor to Coles’ finance transformation program, responsible for designing and governing technology solutions that align with our strategic goals. This role is critical in ensuring that our systems and platforms are architected to support long-term business outcomes, with a strong focus on scalability, integration, and data-driven decision-making.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders across Corporate Technology and Finance, translating complex business requirements into fit-for-purpose architectural solutions. Your responsibilities will include defining architecture standards, evaluating solution options, and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles. You will also oversee the development of detailed designs and ensure that solutions are implemented in accordance with agreed designs throughout the project lifecycle.
Beyond technical design, you will contribute to the strategic planning and prioritisation of the Corporate Technology roadmap, identifying capability gaps and shaping the future state of our technology landscape. You will collaborate with solution, integration, data, infrastructure, and security architects, as well as external vendors and partners, to deliver cohesive and future-ready solutions.
This role also involves mentoring team members, uplifting architectural capability, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
We’re looking for a strategic thinker and experienced leader with a passion for architecture and transformation. You’ll bring a strong mix of technical expertise, business acumen, and stakeholder engagement skills.
About you and your skills
• 5 years + senior or managerial experience in an Architecture function
• Extensive experience in working for large organisations in a highly complex landscape, designing, and leading delivery of large-scale transformation programs with complex integration, data and reporting use cases
• Orchestrating multiple ERPs to solve business problems (SAP, D365 and others)
• Strong knowledge and experience in solution architecture, data, reporting, tool selection and deployment
• Demonstrated ability to plan, sequence and define execution roadmaps for transformation programs
• Proven capabilities in vendor, partner, and stakeholder relationship management
• In-depth expertise in applicable IT processes and technologies
• Ability to understand business and IT strategy, environment and trends across multiple functions
• Translation and alignment of business strategies into IT solutions
• Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders, delivery teams and broader architecture functions (security, Infrastructure, etc), to achieve outcomes
• Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and leadership skills
• Exceptional analytical and problem resolution skills
• Strong appreciation of financial and risk management
• Retail industry experience advantageous
