What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible for building and delivering world-class software, line managing and providing technical leadership to a team of engineers.

 

 

You’ll also:

  • Build and own the Engineering roadmap across several Merchandise domains, encompassing DevOps, Unit Test Automation, CICD & Cloud Technologies to align with the overall Merchandise Strategy
  • Manage and oversee software delivery over several Merchandise domains and associated projects, including providing estimates for all key activities
  • Manage the planning, scheduling and execution of work required and oversee all phases of the SDLC to deliver software into Production, ensuring quality software is delivered
  • Plan, organise, direct and control technical aspects associated with multiple projects and co-ordinate resource allocation
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, keep our vendor partners accountable and create effective relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Be involved in strategic view of the business and its supporting applications

 

Good things you’ll need

We’re after a highly skilled and seasoned software engineer with payments and financial industry experience.

 

You’ll also need:

  • Demonstrated experience in running a large development/delivery team.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills and thorough understanding of the complete software development lifecycle
  • Strong Customer Focus and proven ability to successfully deliver robust IT solutions
  • Strong and creative problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills
  • Good exposure to Agile Scrum working environments
  • Experience working in large scale projects and heavy-traffic platforms
  • Ability to drive and enforce software engineering practices
  • Experience managing relationships with senior leaders
  • Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Experience in a cloud environment desirable
  • Experience with DevOps
  • Extensive experience and background with one or more programming languages and frameworks – e.g. Java or C#, Spring, React, Angular, Node.js, etc.
  • Experience with one or more major retail ERP systems – e.g. Oracle Retail, JDA, SalesForce, etc.
  • Extensive experience with full software engineering lifecycle in particular CI/CD and test automation principles and standards
