Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
About the role
The Senior Technical Analyst is a highly experienced individual contributor responsible for delivering complex technical outcomes across the Fintech and Payments ecosystem. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and technical leadership, contributing to system-wide solutions, uplift of engineering practices, and the mentoring of other analysts and engineers. You will be expected to apply expertise, strong judgement, and a holistic understanding of the payments domain to ensure secure, scalable, and high-quality delivery outcomes aligned to Coles’ Fintech technology strategy. The successful candidate will bring strong technical analysis experience within complex payments or regulated technology environments.
Experience
- Significant experience working within agile delivery teams
- Strong background delivering and supporting complex technical solutions in payments, financial services, or similarly regulated environments
- Deep understanding of IT and payments ecosystems, including transaction processing, integration patterns, settlement, reconciliation and operational support processes
- Experience with FIS Data Navigator, IST Clearing and IST MAS applications
- Strong understanding of payment scheme mandates and the impact of regulatory or scheme-driven change on technology platforms
- Demonstrated experience applying PCI-DSS, PII security, ISO 9001 and other relevant compliance frameworks in a delivery environment
- Proven ability to analyse complex technical issues, document requirements, support solution design and work closely with engineering, architecture, delivery and business teams
- Must have demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve analysis, documentation, delivery quality and productivity.
Desirable
- Experience with Java-based applications or technical analysis in Java environments
- Famiiarality with source code management practices and tools
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices
- Ability to support automation across build, test, deploy and operational run activities
Key responsibilities:
Software Delivery
- Drive an engineering team to develop delivery goals within agreed timelines
- Facility Agile Scrum practices within the team, offer support to delivery managers in defining timelines and project requirements
Engineering quality
- Ensure the team is developing software quality in-line with the broader teams’ expectations
- Facilitate and govern peer reviews and testing standards
Team grooming
- Empower and develop the engineering team’s skills
- Facilitate training, ensure all technical analysts are meeting needs and gaining help to close gaps
- Grow a culture that elicits a high-performing team and a fun working environment
Stakeholder Management
- Working collaboratively with the Business Stakeholders, and Business Programme Managers and Implementation partners to ensure delivery success
