Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. Senior Systems Engineer – Workplace Applications
At Coles, we’re transforming the way our team members work through innovative workplace technologies. We’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Workplace Applications team on a 12-month fixed term contract, supporting the end-to-end lifecycle of our workplace toolsets.
About the role:
This role will be pivotal in supporting and evolving some of our collaboration and productivity toolsets, including emerging AI personal productivity tools and other collaboration and Workplace platforms such as the Atlassian suite (amongst others). You’ll be involved in everything from implementation and productionising support, to embedding operational processes and transitioning platforms into BAU.
You will play a key role in ensuring seamless integration, configuration, and optimisation of these platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deploy, configure and optimise AI and collaboration systems during rollout and into BAU.
- Act as a technical escalation point for incidents and service requests.
- Ensure tools meet Cyber Security and Coles resiliency standards through in tool configuration and operational processes
- Support the evolving operational elements of responsible use of AI
- Develop and maintain system documentation and operational procedures.
- Participate in change management processes to ensure smooth transitions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
- Mentor systems engineers and analysts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed support processes and knowledge articles.
- Implement operational processes to manage usage and optimise cost.
About you and your skills:
- Demonstrated experience in a Technology Systems Engineer role supporting workplace platforms.
- Proven experience across the platform development lifecycle including configuration, process design, and operational support.
- Strong scripting and automation skills to streamline deployment and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with APIs, web services, and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with SaaS environments, security practices, and tooling.
- Passion for workplace technologies and toolsets.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry experience.
- Strong understanding of Agile development and contemporary integration patterns.
