Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.

 

About the role

 

As a Senior Software Engineer (iOS), you’ll design and deliver complex, customer-facing features using Swift and modern iOS frameworks. You’ll work with a high degree of autonomy within a squad, contributing to technical decisions, code quality, and delivery outcomes. Beyond feature delivery, you’ll mentor other engineers, influence engineering standards, and help ensure our iOS applications are reliable, scalable, and ready to support millions of customers. 

 

 

Experience

 

  • Designs and delivers complex iOS features independently using Swift and iOS frameworks
  • Extensive experience contributing to largescale, customer facing mobile platforms
  • Strong experience working in Agile Scrum environments, including estimation, planning, and refinement
  • Proven ability to apply and influence software engineering standards without formal authority
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and addressing technical debt proactively
  • Experience contributing to incident resolution and post incident reviews
  • Experience working in cloud based and CI/CD enabled environments desirable
  • Experience collaborating with backend teams on GraphQL schema design and evolution (TypeScript based), preferred

 

 

Responsibilities

 

Software Delivery

 

  • Design and deliver complex software features independently within agreed timelines
  • Contribute to estimation, planning, and backlog refinement within the squad
  • Actively support effective agile delivery practices through participation and technical leadership 

 

 

Engineering Quality

 

  • Apply and influence architectural, coding, and testing standards within the squad
  • Proactively identify, prioritise, and address technical debt
  • Ensure delivered features meet functional and nonfunctional requirements (performance, reliability, security)
  • Participate in incident resolution and post incident reviews to drive systemic improvement

 

 

Team Contribution

 

  • Mentor and support engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to engineering guilds, communities of practice, and shared learning
  • Actively improve team practices, ways of working, and technical outcomes
