About the team

 

Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.

 

About the role

 

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will use your expertise to design, build, and maintain automation frameworks and services that streamline financial settlement and reconciliation processes. You’ll enhance reliability, performance, and scalability of core systems, drive continuous improvement through modern engineering practices, and mentor engineers to uplift technical delivery and quality standards.

 

 

Experience

 

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in developing technical services that provides deep specialised knowledge in Java and Cloud technologies
  • Delivering outcomes across multiple technical products and services, delivering to implementation requirements and contributing solution design/architecture
  • Scoping specification of solutions and the ability to garner support from others on the desired solution
  • Working effectively with cross functional teams and collaborating to achieve a common goal, meet deadlines and provide value adding services and solutions
  • Solid experience with:

o Java (SpringBoot)

o React (Next.js, shadecdn)

o Azure (DevOps, Entra ID, ServiceBus, Storage) or AWS (with a good understand of general services)

o Linux

o SQL databases

  • Experience working in large scale projects and heavy-traffic platforms
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Experience in Payment/Fintech technology advantageous
  • Relevant post-secondary qualification (in technology engineering discipline such as computer science, information systems engineering etc.)

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Software Delivery

 

  • Drive an engineering team to develop delivery goals within agreed timelines
  • Facility Agile Scrum practices within the team, offer support to delivery managers in defining timelines and project requirements

 

 

Engineering Quality

 

  • Ensure the team is developing software quality in line with the broader teams’ expectations
  • Facilitate and govern peer reviews and testing standards

 

 

Team Work

 

  • Empower and develop the engineering team’s skills
  • Facilitate training, ensure all technical analysts are meeting needs and gaining help to close gaps
  • Grow a culture that elicits a high-performing team and a fun working environment

 

 

Stakeholder Management

 

  • Working collaboratively with the Business Stakeholders, and Business Programme Managers and Implementation partners to ensure delivery success
