About the team
Our Commercial team is a large, but a close-knit group of trading experts, who are ready to shape the future of Coles. We pride ourselves on the long-lasting supplier relationships we build, the new ideas we develop and how passionately we work to help Australian eat and live better every day. And the best part? We’re all so different. We bring diversity of thought, backgrounds, and experience to every Business Unit across Coles Supermarkets and Liquor.
About the Role
Are you ready to shape the future of retail range and space strategy in one of Australia’s most dynamic retail environments?
We’re seeking a strategic, data-curious leader to join our Commercial team as a Senior Range & Space Transformation & Governance Manager. This is a high-impact role that leads three distinct streams and their dedicated teams
- Insights & Analytics, who shape the delivery of our strategic data. They deliver strategic data insights, build dashboards, and support ad hoc queries.
- Transformation & Governance, who manage our range review schedules and drive continuous improvement.
- Transformation & Delivery, who execute key strategic priorities and shape future range strategies.
This is more than a leadership role - it’s an opportunity to influence the future of retail through innovation, collaboration, and customer-first thinking. You’ll be part of a team that’s building cutting-edge tools and frameworks, with the autonomy to shape how we work and the impact we deliver.
You will also;
- Define how we deliver tailored, customer-centric ranges across our store network
- Drive strategic initiatives that simplify and innovate how we build, manage, and execute range and space across the business
- Partner with Category Managers and senior stakeholders to align plans with customer missions, pricing strategies, and operational capabilities
- Own and evolve the end-to-end range review process, embedding governance frameworks that ensure transparency, compliance, and efficiency
- Shape the delivery of strategic insights through advanced analytics, including PowerBI dashboards and Snowflake migration, to provide real-time visibility and support smarter decisions
- Deliver data-led storytelling to senior stakeholders in a compelling and easy to understand manner
- Help build and leverage some of the most advanced range and space tools in Australia
- Lead a team of four direct reports, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement
About you and your skills
Our ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of retail or FMCG environments, who thrives on solving complex problems and driving transformation. They are naturally curious about data, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies that enhance customer experience and commercial outcomes. With proven leadership experience, they can inspire and guide a diverse team across analytics, governance, and delivery streams. They bring a strong background in process optimisation, continuous improvement, and stakeholder engagement, and are confident presenting strategic narratives to senior leaders. Above all, they are passionate about building future-fit solutions and frameworks that shape how range and space are delivered across the business.
You will also ideally have;
- Proven experience in retail, FMCG, or commercial roles within a centralised function
- Strong background in strategy, transformation, governance, and process design
- Ability to lead complex projects and deliver sustainable outcomes
- Strategic mindset with the ability to craft compelling narratives for senior stakeholders
- Passion for data, curiosity to ask “why,” and the ability to dive deep into complex datasets
- Experience with demand/resource planning tools or workforce management approaches
- Proven experience leading a team including coaching, motivating, and building cross-functional collaboration
- Familiarity with platforms like Blue Yonder and PowerBI is beneficial, but not essential
