About the team
Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
About the Role
As an accomplished Senior Project Manager, you will be leading multiple, interdependent delivery streams for a complex, high impact Retail Operations (across Commercial, Liquor, Store Operations and/or Supply Chain) project within a matrixed product centric delivery environment
This role focuses on driving execution excellence, maintaining governance and compliance, mitigating risks, and fostering collaboration across teams and stakeholders to achieve project success while supporting a high-performing delivery environment.
This role is also accountable for maximising value from a significant investment portfolio by actively shaping scope, sequencing, and delivery decisions in response to evolving business and technical contexts.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Take full ownership of project scope, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations, ensuring successful execution.
- Lead and coordinate multiple concurrent delivery streams across functional and technical teams
- Operate effectively within a matrix organisation, influencing outcomes without direct authority
- Drive planning and trade-off decisions to maximise value from aggregate investment
- Partner closely with product, engineering, architecture, operations, and business stakeholders on scope, priority, and scheduling
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks, dependencies, and constraints, taking early action to prevent delivery impacts
- Continuously monitor and communicate delivery health and adapt plans in response to changing priorities, emerging risks, and shifting organisational context
- Facilitate informed decision-making by presenting clear options, impacts, and recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Maintain strong delivery governance, cadence, and transparency across all streams
- Ensure delivery outcomes align to strategic objectives, timelines, quality standards, and realised benefits
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 15+ years of IT project management experience, delivering complex projects or programs with multiple interdependent workstreams
- Strong track record working in matrix environments with shared accountability and competing priorities
- Highly developed risk management capability, including scenario planning and mitigation strategies
- Ability to remain effective in ambiguous, fast-changing environments, adjusting approach as context evolves
- Commercial and value-oriented mindset, balancing scope, cost, time, risk, and outcomes
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills at senior levels
- Strong planning, dependency management, and prioritisation expertise
- Comprehensive understanding of IT delivery frameworks, methodologies, and toolsets.
- Technical acumen in IT systems, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Strong leadership qualities, fostering teamwork, accountability, and high performance.
- Ability to manage vendor relationships and ensure effective collaboration and service delivery.
- Nice to Have
- Experience in technology, digital, or platform-based delivery
- Comfort with working across Agile, hybrid, and traditional delivery models
- Relevant delivery qualifications (PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe, or equivalent)
