Senior Product Manager - Finance Technology
We’ve been proudly serving Australian communities since 1914 and have grown to become a top 30-listed company on the ASX with a portfolio of iconic homegrown brands. At the heart of our continued success is over 115,000 team members working across the country, all contributing to bringing our customers smiles. You’ll not only get to see your work make a difference, you’ll be part of a team working together to help Australians eat and live better every day.
About the team
Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
At Coles, technology is more than systems and platforms—it enables every part of our business to serve millions of customers every week.
Our Enterprise Technology Services team partners with business leaders across Coles to shape technology strategy, deliver transformational change and ensure our critical enterprise platforms continue to evolve with the needs of the business.
Working across Finance technology, you'll help define the future of one of Australia's largest and most complex retail organisations, supporting capabilities that underpin financial operations, governance and strategic decision making.
About the role
As Senior Product Manager – Finance, you'll be the strategic technology partner to our Finance business, bringing together business strategy, technology capability and delivery to create meaningful business outcomes.
You'll work closely with Finance leaders to understand their priorities, challenges and long-term objectives, translating business strategy into an integrated technology product roadmap that balances innovation, operational excellence and value delivery.
Rather than owning a single product, you'll lead a portfolio of Finance technology capabilities spanning SAP Finance, enterprise finance platforms and supporting SaaS solutions. You'll collaborate across Product, Architecture, Engineering, Delivery, Service Management and our strategic partners to shape investment priorities, assemble the right delivery teams and ensure initiatives are successfully delivered through the Coles delivery framework.
As the primary technology relationship for your portfolio, you'll provide strategic advice and a single point of leadership across strategy, delivery and operational performance. You'll influence enterprise prioritisation, manage dependencies across the broader technology landscape and ensure our Finance technology portfolio continues to deliver value while remaining resilient, secure and fit for the future.
Success in this role is about building trusted relationships, leading through influence and bringing clarity across a complex enterprise environment.
About you
You're a strategic and commercially minded technology and product leader who thrives on partnering with senior business leaders to shape technology strategy and deliver meaningful business outcomes. You bring a customer mindset, enterprise thinking and the ability to connect business priorities with technology investment, delivery and operational excellence.
You'll also bring:
• 6–10 years' experience in Product Management, with a proven track record of defining product strategy and delivering strategic business outcomes within complex enterprise environments.
• Deep experience across the SAP Finance ecosystem, ideally including SAP S/4HANA Finance modules, with a strong understanding of finance capabilities such as Record to Report, Procure to Pay integration, financial close, tax, treasury, banking, payments, controls and regulatory obligations.
• Demonstrated enterprise-level ownership of technology products or portfolios, with the ability to connect business strategy, product vision, technology delivery, operational resilience and compliance requirements.
• Proven experience shaping and/or governing large-scale transformation programs or complex enterprise technology initiatives across multiple business and technology domains.
• Strong capability in product strategy, product visioning and roadmap development, translating business strategy into prioritised technology outcomes and investment plans.
• Experience leading or supporting organisations transitioning to a product operating model, with an appreciation for modern product management practices.
• Extensive experience working in Agile delivery environments and orchestrating cross-functional teams comprising Product, Architecture, Engineering, Delivery, Service Management and strategic partners.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and engage confidently with senior Finance and Technology leaders.
• Strong portfolio management capability, balancing competing priorities, managing dependencies and making informed, data-driven decisions across multiple initiatives and investment horizons.
• The ability to lead through ambiguity, create clarity across diverse stakeholder groups, and communicate strategy, priorities, risks and outcomes in a way that drives alignment and confidence.
• A collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring Product Managers and contributing to the maturity of product management practices across the organisation.
• A tertiary qualification in Business, Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
If you're excited by the opportunity to shape Finance technology strategy, influence enterprise investment decisions and help one of Australia's largest retailers deliver better business outcomes through technology, we'd love to hear from you.
