Join us as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer and play a pivotal role in building and scaling AI systems that shape the future of our business.
Reporting to the Data Science Lead, this permanent role sits at the intersection of data science, engineering, and operations, giving you the opportunity to turn advanced models into powerful, production-ready solutions that make a tangible difference for millions of customers.
You will be instrumental in:
- Championing MLOps excellence — embedding best practices and setting the benchmark for the team.
- Productionising ML models — designing, deploying, and optimising systems that deliver measurable impact.
- Collaborating for results — partnering with data scientists and business leaders to operationalise models that solve high-value problems.
This is your chance to:

- Work on high value use cases with modern tech: solve critical problems across supply chain using the latest in ML and MLOps on our newly developed Azure ML platform.
- Take end-to-end ownership: Drive the full ML lifecycle from problem definition to model deployment and iteration in production
Key responsibilities will include
- Defining MLOps practices within the Advanced Analytics team, streamlining the way the team deploys and manages models
- Developing, deploying, and maintaining ML models in both python and R
- Ensuring scalability, efficiency, stability and resiliency of production models
- Leveraging Azure's suite of tools and services to optimise ML workflows
- Ensuring robustness and reliability of ML models through automated testing
- Leading technical discussions within the Advanced Analytics team
- Collaborating with the broader Tech teams to enhance the infrastructure, security and governance that underpins MLOps
- Research and integrate emerging MLOps tools and frameworks to improve development workflow
- Use of a variety of sources to keep abreast of industry practices
- Mentor and support Advanced Analytics team members to develop their understanding and use of ML Engineering leading practices
- Fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation in areas of machine learning engineering and MLops
About you & your skills
- Proven years of professional experience implementing and maintaining ML systems in production environments with a strong proficiency in AzureML and cloud-based environments
- Demonstrated expertise in MLOps (CI/CD, model monitoring, etc.) and the ML engineering lifecycle
- Demonstrated experience with generative AI or deploying AI use cases
- Track record of collaboration effectively to translate models into production ready systems
- Deep knowledge of modern software engineering practices and cloud platforms (preferably Azure but also GCP or AWS) and their ML specific services
- Experience in building scalable, reliable systems that handle large and growing data volumes and model complexity
- Advanced coding experience in Python
- Productivity applications - Git, Jira, Confluence or similar
- Experience with full stack app development highly advantageous
Desired
- Previous experience in supermarkets or retail
- Experience in optimisation techniques
- Experience in other coding languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript
Commercial Skills and Formal Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Engineering or related field.
