About the role

Our team partner across Insurance teams and we ensure that commercial thinking feeds into everything we do. With Australian 2019 ‘CFO of The Year’ Leah Weckert steering our team, we set up our and people for success through good commercial leadership and a broad range of development opportunities.

 

An exciting opportunity exists for a result driven Accounting professional team to join our Insurance team. This permanent full-time role has become available due to an internal promotion.

 

What you’ll be doing

In this newly created role, you will be responsible for providing the overall financial support and partner with our internal Insurance stakeholders, primarily in relation to:

  • overseeing accounting of premiums and insurance financials for the Coles Group Insurance department
  • accounting for and financially reporting on the self-insurance fund operations
  • overseeing the preparation of accounting documents and journals, accuracy of financial reporting and maintenance of financials in the accounting software
  • preparing the Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet at the relevant reporting dates
  • leading the preparation of monthly forecasts, annual budgets and premium calculations and distribute to appropriate stakeholders
  • leading and managing an assistant accountant, including development.

 

Good things you’ll need

A strong commercially minded professional with proven experience in an accounting role, ideally in the insurance sector, insurance function or within a complex retail environment.

 

You’ll also need

  • strong understanding of financial reporting compliance requirements, accounting Standards and procedures.
  • experience using various reporting and financial analysis tools (detailed below)
  • strong interpersonal and leadership skills and stakeholder management with ability to influence at multiple levels
  • Ability to deal with a level of ambiguity and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Accounting degree ideally with CA/CPA qualification
