About the role 

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Finance Manager to lead the finance team supporting the Merchandise, Marketing and eCommerce teams for Coles Liquor. 

 

This role will see you work in partnership with the business unit General Managers and their leadership team to provide strategic commercial decision support and governance, ensuring business unit strategies and initiatives deliver annual budget targets, EBIT efficiencies and working capital improvements.

 

You will be responsible for driving the Liquor Transformation agenda as it impacts Commercial, Customer and Digital, with your stakeholders looking to you and your team to drive improvements in relevant commercial KPIs such as return on space, margin rate, waste and markdowns, availability and working capital optimisation, and support effective commercial decision-making on category roles, range reviews and initiatives. 

 

You will also;

  • Lead and mentor a team of seven finance specialists responsible for providing ongoing strategic analysis, decision support, financial reporting, planning & forecasting, and financial transactional processing
  • Drive improvements in trade planning, promotion effectiveness, and optimise layouts and range with a view to aligning to strategic objectives, driving sales, profit performance and achieving budget targets
  • Support the business unit to deliver strategic commercial priorities and outcomes
  • Establish and maintain a seamless weekly forecasting process to drive accountability and ownership of sales and profit performance to Merchandise, Marketing and eCommerce teams
  • Influence and drive improvements in the end-to-end finance functions across key platforms

 

 

About you and your skills 

 
As a Senior Finance Manager, you’ll have extensive experience in commercial finance leadership roles, ideally within the liquor space or retail/FMCG. You will have experience in business transformation, keen to roll up your sleeves and dive deep into the strategy as we embark on bold transformations within Liquor. You’ll also be experienced in fact-driven, data-led storytelling with senior stakeholders to ensure outcomes are clearly understood, measurable, and change is communicated.

 

You’ll also have: 

  • A diverse finance background covering Financial Control, Financial reporting, Planning & Analysis, and Commercial partnering
  • Advanced leadership skills, with experience developing and managing high performing finance teams
  • Experience driving organisational change and influencing key business partners
  • Experience in strategic business planning and direction setting 
  • CA/ CPA (or equivalent) with extensive post qualification experience
  • MBA or equivalent desirable
