About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineering Manager to join Coles’ Engineering Platform team in a full-time and permanent capacity.
Reporting directly to the GM of Digital Engineering & Data, the primary focus of this role is to maximise agility, accelerate cloud adoption and cost optimisation, and unlock efficiencies across the Digital function.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Be accountable to build, enhance and maintain the cloud and on-prem digital platform as a foundation for supporting business applications.
- Support corporate Cloud strategy.
- Ensure a platform that is highly available for the organisation at scale.
- Contribute as a senior member of a highly capable, passionate, and motivated leadership team
- Provide clear business direction that translates into actionable items of work for the squads.
- Drive initiatives and contribute to product roadmap and strategy for the products/assets the squads are building.
- Maintain a portfolio view of all projects across the platform that you are responsible for, including budgets / funding and resource management.
- Contribute to creation and management of annual Cost Centre Budget and Technology project funded initiatives.
About you and your skills:
As an experienced Senior Engineering Manager with demonstrated experience across cloud and on-prem systems, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in transforming on-prem systems to cloud
- At least 5-7 years senior or managerial IT experience, as a Digital/Product/Engineering Manager of digital products in an agile environment, with experience delivering large programs of work, including operation support.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing solutions in large scale, complex and distributed environments including cost optimisation.
- Solid understanding of cloud technology, on-prem solutions, SRE (Site Reliability Engineering), DevOps, DBA, and engineering products and services, with a technical background.
- A proven track record in people management and experience in building and leading large teams
- Demonstrated success defining and launching high quality and business critical products, in a complex enterprise production environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence and persuade outcomes / direction
