About the team
Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
About you and your skills:
As the Senior Software Engineer, you will support the delivery of various modern and revolutionary product and software designs within Store Team Platform. In applying your programming expertise and modern cloud-based solutions you will design scalable code across a multitude of platform, applications, and services.
As the Senior Software Engineer, you will generate exciting new designs for current and future applications, while meeting company standards. You will excel in our rapid and ever-changing environment and have the ability to manage a diverse range of projects at any given time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Be primarily responsible for the development of applications, frameworks, and services within Coles’ Store Team Platform
- Collaboration with Product owners on requirements to create detailed designs for business requirements
- Working closely with Principle Engineers to refine detailed designs, create build plans and proceed with development.
- Provide oversight on design and architecture of solutions.
- Play a leading role in skill development and general mentorship to other developers across the team.
- Engage with enterprise teams – architecture and strategy, security, infrastructure and cloud to determine strategic options and recommendation.
- Automate the deployment of applications, system configuration, and security settings using Azure Devops on Azure Cloud and On-Prem.
- Work with platform teams to design and implement pipelines using enterprise Devops tools and frameworks.
- Bring experience in the development of infrastructure as code (IAC) to build full-stack solutions.
- Proficient in designing end-to-end digital solutions including architectural designs that adhere to our standards and deliver value to our end-users.
- Have expert understanding of the software development lifecycle, Agile development practices and enterprise architecture principles.
About you and your skills:
This role requires commercial experience across a large-scale system-critical business environment. As the Senior Software Engineer you will support the delivering of a variety of products and applications, working across a wide range of new tools, process and solutions, and designing new and innovative automation services.
We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer with experience across modern cloud and software engineering practices including containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) across Azure. You will bring your technical expertise across a variety of open-source tools and technologies delivering cutting-edge solutions and services.
You’ll also need:
- Demonstrated experience across various programming languages C# or Java
- Demonstrated Cloud-Native development and architecture in Azure or AWS.
- Demonstrated experience across various data technologies; RDBMS (SQL Server), NoSQL (CosmosDB), Event Streaming (Kafka/EventHub) or equivalent (favourable).
- Demonstrated Experience in OOP and FP designs.
- Proficient in designing and building services and APIs.
- Knowledge of security practices.
- Cloud-based infrastructure expertise including modern patterns and coding practices.
