About the team
Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
About the team
Technology is the backbone of our business, and within the Corporate Systems group, we build and support the enterprise applications that thousands of team members rely on every day to keep things running.
We work across key business areas including Finance, Procurement, People & Culture, Risk, Safety, and Legal — delivering and supporting systems that are critical to operations at scale.
Our enterprise application team plays a vital role in modernising legacy platforms, embedding automation, and enabling cloud-native solutions. We're focused on delivering secure, reliable, and forward-looking technology that empowers our internal users and helps the business move faster and smarter.
About the role
We operate a robust Azure-based ecosystem that supports mission-critical systems across Finance, People & Culture, Risk, Safety, and more. Azure is our core development and delivery platform, and we're now deepening our adoption of Azure-native services, automation, and DevOps practices to improve scalability, security, and efficiency.
As a DevOps Engineer within Corporate Systems, you’ll be instrumental in evolving our cloud engineering capability, building and maintaining secure, repeatable, and scalable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and modern automation tools.
You’ll help define reusable Azure patterns and frameworks that enable the delivery of high-quality solutions across a diverse range of enterprise platforms.
This is a key role in accelerating our engineering maturity by driving standardisation, embedding security practices, and supporting the continuous delivery of cloud-native services that power our business.
About you and your skills
You’re a hands-on engineer with a strong foundation in Microsoft Azure and a passion for building secure, scalable, and automated cloud solutions. You’re comfortable navigating complex environments, collaborating across teams, and delivering practical outcomes that align with business goals.
You’ll bring a mix of practical engineering experience, cloud expertise, and a mindset for continuous improvement:
• 5+ years of experience with Microsoft technologies, with deep knowledge of Azure, Microsoft 365, and SharePoint.
• Solid experience designing and supporting Azure cloud environments, including Azure Functions, Logic Apps, APIM, Service Bus, Event Grid, Key Vault, and Cosmos DB.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code using tools like Azure DevOps, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Proficient in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI) and working with containers, Docker, and Kubernetes (AKS).
• Development experience with .NET Core, React, and modern integration patterns (REST/JSON, messaging).
• Familiar with secure design practices, Azure RBAC, AAD, and cloud governance.
• Knowledge of software design principles (SOLID, TDD, BDD, DDD) and architecture patterns.
• Experienced in Agile delivery environments, working with cross-functional squads to ship reliable solutions.
• A strong communicator who can bridge technical and business contexts and thrive in a collaborative team culture.
• Comfortable operating in complex, multi-system environments with structured change and support processes.
We’re looking for someone with a growth mindset, a collaborative style, and the willingness to get stuck into technical problem-solving. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
