About the role
A permanent opportunity of a Senior Systems Engineer AIOps Governance is now available at the Coles Group.
Reporting into the Platform Manager – Monitoring and Observability, this role will primarily be responsible for in maintaining an efficient AIOps platform by creating and managing policies & framework, setup optimisation rules, and manage license subscriptions/costs.
Key responsibilities will include
- Collaborate across all application and infrastructure teams and setup/optimise/maintain Splunk ITSI configurations including searches, storage, data retention, and policy management to ensure license usage remains within compliant thresholds.
- Collaborate across all application and infrastructure teams and setup/optimise/maintain Splunk Observability cloud (Olly) configurations including agent usage, agent configuration, policy management, health rule checks to ensure license usage remains within compliant thresholds.
- Collaborate across all application and infrastructure teams and setup/optimise/maintain UiPath/ansible automations including scripts, BOTs, policies to ensure license usage remains within compliant thresholds.
- Setup/maintain KPIs/SLAs/Service trees in Splunk platform.
- License Manager for all tools managed by M&O, purchases/renewals.
- Maintain compliance with best practise guidelines and guardrails to optimise costs.
- Create ITSI services, KPIs, and notable events to provide comprehensive visibility into IT operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather requirements and help support evolving business needs.
- Assist with performing regular system maintenance activities, including patching, upgrades, and performance tuning, to ensure optimal performance and stability of the platform.
- Contribute to developing and maintaining the required operational documentation, including standard operating procedures, technical guides, and knowledge base articles, to facilitate efficient troubleshooting and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with the Splunk technical resources and account team to address technical issues and implement enhancements or bug fixes.
- Act as a liaison between the support team and other IT teams, assisting with incident resolution, change management, and problem management processes.
- Help build a strong brand for our helping to build a strong brand for our frontline Technology function and M&O, AiOps platform.

About you & your skills
- Extensive hands-on technical experience in implementing and supporting Splunk Cloud and ITSI platforms of at least, ten years or more.
- Strong background in Splunk cloud/ITSI optimisation techniques (searches, storage, retention, policies, etc.)
- Strong background in UiPath/Ansible automation optimisation techniques
- Strong background in Splunk Observability Cloud optimisation techniques
- Experience in Splunk, UiPath license management
- Comprehensive experience in various data sources (monitoring tools, ticketing systems, logs, metrics, traces, etc.)
- Extensive experience in Tech to Business Service Tree mapping.
- Extensive experience in Event Management, workflow development.
- Experience in implementing & supporting RPA based automation (UiPath, Power Automate, etc.).
- Experience in implementing & supporting Infrastructure IT Operations based automation (Ansible).
- Hands on experience with automating process, optimising workflows and integrations.
- Experience in delivery principles and coding standards.
- Experience in scripting – PowerShell, Python, etc.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, bitbucket.
- Experience helping support groups and technology teams’ self-help and get the most out of the Splunk platform
- Technical experience in supporting AiOps, TechOps
- Advanced understanding of all aspects of the broader operational environment (i.e.. processes, procedures, associated toolsets, operating systems, etc.).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, GCP, AWS).
- Experience in monitoring containerised solutions.
- Proven capabilities in vendor, partner and stakeholder relationship management including the monitoring and maintenance of outsource agreements and project delivery to agreed service levels and timeframes.
Commercial Skills and Formal Qualifications
- Splunk ITSI Certification.
- UiPath foundation certification.
- ITIL Certification.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Self-starter, Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to articulate solutions and influence others-simply.
