About the role:
Our Coles 360, Loyalty and Customer team is looking for a Technical Business Analyst. You will investigate problems and analyse options for new and existing API/Microservices. You’ll help deliver and execute whilst bringing a ‘you build it, you own it’ mentality.
Key responsibilities:
- Partner with Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams to investigate problems and recommend solution options
- Participate in architecture/solution walkthroughs and translate high-level designs into detailed API and integration requirements
- Analyse current systems, services, and data flows to understand impacts, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement
- Define and document API specifications and contracts (e.g., OpenAPI/Swagger), including request/response models, error handling, and non-functional considerations where relevant
- Create and maintain analysis and delivery artefacts including sequence diagrams, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation
- Facilitate and run workshops and ceremonies to support discovery and delivery (e.g., requirements workshops, showcases, goal-setting sessions)
- Elicit and clarify engineering requirements, identify gaps, resolve ambiguity, and manage conflicting requirements
- Work with stakeholders (including a Tech Product Manager) to prioritise the product backlog based on value, risk, and timelines
- Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure outcomes meet requirements and agreed quality standards
- Apply a strong understanding of systems of work (Agile and non-Agile, SDLC, CI/CD) to identify process improvements and support change
About you
- You’re comfortable participating in architecture/solution walkthroughs and translating the solution into clear API requirements
- You engage easily with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and can drive effective problem-solving conversations
- You are confident working with API artefacts and sequence diagrams and can guide internal and interfacing teams to agree on a practical solution
- You have experience working with cross-functional teams (e.g., product squads, solution architects, developers) in complex environments
- You bring a strong set of values and a collaborative mindset and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes
- You have experience working in an Agile environment
Skills and experience (must have)
- Strong API experience, including the ability to document API specifications and define API contracts
- Hands-on knowledge of tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI and Postman
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical/API requirements by analysing current systems and data flows
- Experience eliciting engineering requirements and writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria for Agile teams
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including backlog refinement and prioritisation support
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
