About the team

 

Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.

 

 

About the role

 

To understand stakeholders’ business processes and be able to describe and define those requirements in a manner that can be developed into technical solutions as well demonstrating this a capability and mentoring less experienced Business Analysts and working with senior stakeholders.

 

 

Experience

 

  • 5+ years’ experience supporting digital channels in large, complex organisations requiring stakeholder management
  • At least 3 years demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst working in complex environments and projects
  • Understanding of: digital ecosystem, software development lifecycle, development methodologies (including Agile), enterprise architecture principles, web usability and accessibility, online content, and user experience (UX) design
  • Experience in retail environment mandatory
  • Experience working in a complex project environment and must have worked in Product Delivery environment 
  • A logical approach to problem solving and the ability to constructively propose and review solutions
  • Proven experience gathering, eliciting, and documenting functional and non-functional requirements in a way that is complete, clear, correct, and consistent
  • Proven ability to manage relationships within and outside the business, including suppliers, customers, and colleagues
  • Ability to analyse and explain complex digital systems and concepts in accessible language, such as translating the technical capability of a solution into the real-world application and results of that solution. Communicate these concepts to a range of stakeholders at the appropriate level of detail
  • Development of Business Cases, including financial case, for technical solutions to business problems. Includes financial acumen such as understanding capital vs operational spend and making strategic trade-offs between competing solutions
  • Highly collaborative style, able to engage with a diverse range of stakeholder to meet targets

 

 

Ownership & Leadership

 

  • Leads teams in framing and solving hard problems; has driven innovative efforts that uncovered and established new ways of working
  • Part of the Extended Delivery Leadership team to shape and evolve thedelivery practice
  • Experienced Business Analyst that plays a leadership role for your crew
  • Manage other Business Analysts and direct one or more within your crew
  • This role is a fine balance of individual contribution and people management

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Knowledge and expertise of the overall product/s
  • Mentor to other business analysts
  • Context switching for urgent and escalated work
  • Collaborate with other leaders in the Crew to provide recognition and learning opportunities for team members 

 

 

Analysis

 

  • Takes the lead for investigative work to determine business requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures, and organisation change.
  • Applies and monitors the use of required modelling and analysis tools, methods and standards, giving special consideration to business perspectives
  • Provide guidance and share expertise with other analysts to ensure quality is maintained
  • Ensures user stories are at a good enough quality to be Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimateable, Sized Appropriately, Testable (INVEST principle)
