About the role

 


As a Senior Business Analyst, you will work to understand stakeholders’ business processes and be able to describe and define those requirements in a manner that can be developed into technical solutions, working to uplift the teams capability while working closely with senior Coles stakeholders. 

 

Some of your key accountabilities will be:

  • Takes the lead for investigative work to determine business requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures, and organisation change.
  • Applies and monitors the use of required modelling and analysis tools, methods and standards, giving special consideration to business perspectives.
  • Provide guidance and share expertise with other analysts to ensure quality is maintained.
  • Ensures user stories are at a good enough quality to be Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimateable, Sized Appropriately, Testable (INVEST principle)It would be great for you to also have (however not mandatory):
    • Conducts investigations at a high level for strategy studies, business requirements specifications and feasibility studies.
    • Takes accountability for the development of business cases which define potential benefits, options for achieving these benefits through development of new or changed processes, and associated business risks.
    •  Identifies stakeholders and their business needs.
    • Analyses business processes; identifies alternative solutions, assesses feasibility, and recommends new approaches.
    • Contributes to evaluating the factors which must be addressed in the change programme.
    • Helps establish requirements for the implementation of changes in the business process. 
       

 

About you and your skills

Some of the essential things we are looking for:

 

  • 5+ years’ experience supporting digital channels in large, complex organisations requiring stakeholder management.
  • Significant experience in a Business Analyst role
  • Experience in retail environment mandatory
  • Experience working in a complex project environment and must have worked in Product Delivery environment
  • Agile methods and concepts
  • Proficient in context switching and being across multiple initiatives
  • A logical approach to problem solving and the ability to constructively propose and review solutions
  • Proven experience gathering, eliciting, and documenting functional and non-functional requirements in a way that is complete, clear, correct, and consistent.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships within and outside the business, including suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to analyse and explain complex digital systems and concepts in accessible language, such as translating the technical capability of a solution into the real-world application and results of that solution.
  • Communicate these concepts to a range of stakeholders at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Development of Business Cases, including financial case, for technical solutions to business problems.  Includes financial acumen such as understanding capital vs operational spend and making strategic trade-offs between competing solutions.
