About the role
A newly created role, reporting in the Group Risk Manager. As the Risk SME, you provide specialist risk management support and advice on matters relating to sustainability and the environment including climate change, biodiversity, energy, workplace behaviours, ethical and responsible sourcing, and security of supply across Coles Group.


You partner with the business and support the wider risk team in implementing and embedding the Group Risk Framework, Strategy and program. You support with Governance, Risk and Compliance technology platforms within the business with the aim of enhancing risk management maturity, capability and culture across the Coles Group.


What you'll be doing

Working with senior leadership and partnering with team members across Coles to:

  • identify new and emerging risks, assess existing risks, and provide risk insights and analysis;
  • develop risk profiles that identify risks, key controls, and commercial and effective risk mitigations; and
  • operationalise risk appetite framework, including identification of risk appetite, measures and targets to enable the business to be effective in managing its risk, and identification of reporting and escalation protocols
  • Facilitating risk workshops with various stakeholders
  • Developing risk appetite and key risk indictors and signposts
  • Facilitating regular internal management risk reporting and use of GRC technology platform



Good things you’ll need

  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise risk management within ASX listed companies
  • Working knowledge in applying risk management processes and analysis, within the areas of sustainability and the environment including climate change e.g. TCFD risk and opportunity assessment
  •  Knowledge of Governance Risk and Compliance (‘GRC’) technology platforms is beneficial but not essential
  • Strong project management skills, data analysis skills and problem solving
  • Proven experience developing relationships and engaging regularly with a variety of stakeholders, including senior managers
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, whether directly leading teams or as an individual contributor
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deliver requirements and projects in a timely manner, to a high standard
  • Excellent communication skills i.e., to convey complex information to business both verbally and in writing at the appropriate level of detail for each audience, with a well-developed capacity to influence
  • Tertiary degree in risk management, finance, economics, law, engineering or relevant discipline.
