About the role
As Risk and Compliance Manager - Payments, you’ll play a key role in protecting the integrity of the organisation’s control environment. You’ll oversee the ongoing review, monitoring and governance of controls, ensuring they remain effective, well documented and aligned with regulatory obligations. Working with senior leaders across Finance, Legal, Payments, Risk, Compliance and Audit, you’ll bring clarity, challenge and strong oversight to a complex and highly regulated environment.
You will also:
- Coordinate the annual review and assessment of assigned AFSL controls, including control evidence, documentation and effectiveness.
- Maintain obligations registers, risk and control records, attestation outcomes, incidents, breaches and governance documentation.
- Review and constructively challenge control attestations and supporting evidence provided by business and capability owners.
- Prepare clear reporting on compliance obligations, control effectiveness, incidents, breaches, issues and emerging risks.
- Support governance forums, escalation processes, remediation tracking and regulatory information requests.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and work together to maintain strong risk and compliance outcomes.
About you and your skills
You bring strong practical knowledge of AFSL requirements, supported by hands-on experience across risk, compliance and operational controls in a regulated environment. You’re comfortable working across complex stakeholder groups, providing constructive challenge and turning detailed regulatory requirements into clear, workable actions.
You will have:
- Demonstrated risk and compliance experience within financial services, ideally across AFSL and AML/CTF-regulated entities.
- Mandatory experience in the payments industry, including exposure to payments-related controls, products or regulatory obligations.
- Experience managing, reviewing, testing or attesting operational and regulatory controls.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders across Finance, Legal, Payments, Risk, Compliance and Audit.
- Banking or superannuation experience, a relevant tertiary qualification or professional certification would be advantageous.
