About the role

 

A permanent opportunity of a Release Manager is now available at the Coles Group.  

 

Reporting into the Service Delivery Manager – Release Governance and Standards Manager, this role will primarily be responsible for: 

 

  • ·       All Release Management activities which include scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases for all changes but not limited to within Merchandise (Commercial technology), Supply Chain, Logistics & Supermarkets functions
  • ·       2IC responsibilities for the Release Management function. This includes management of Release Coordinators, Environment and SCM Teams when required
  • ·       Accountable for vendor management of SCM and Environments to ensure integrity of SCM and environments and driving further improvements in this area
  • ·       Responsible for ensuring that the impact of new or upgraded IT systems is managed in an effective way to ensure the delivery of desired business outcomes

 

Key responsibilities will include

 

Change Management 

 

·       Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists

·       Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.

 

 Release Management 

 

·       Forward Plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio

·       Be able to step in to manage, advice and provide consultation to Release Coordinators/Environment/SCM teams if and when required

·       Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality

·       Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations

·       Coordinate release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates

·       Continuous Improvement of Release Management process

·       Weekly Release Reporting

 

About you & your skills

 

·       Must have strong understanding of IT systems and architecture

·       Must have previous experience working with and managing SCM, environment management and release management

·       Must have some project management experience

·       Must have process improvement experience

·       Must have experience in relationship management skills, working within/with complex matrix structures

·       Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion

·       Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills

 

Commercial Skills and Formal Qualifications

 

·       Formal training in Project management and/or Release management practices preferred

·       5 years + previous release and/or project management experience

·       Very high attention to detail is mandatory

·       Agile Delivery experience

·       Agile Certification Preferred

·       DevOps Delivery experience

·       Ability to engage with Business and IT Teams at various levels

·       Technical understanding of Coles IT systems and integration advantageous

·       Understand high level impact of change to critical functionality & potential operational impacts because of implementing major change
