Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. About the role

The Quality Lead is responsible for driving and governing quality assurance practices across the Group’s technology landscape, ensuring that solutions delivered to supermarkets, liquor, and shared platforms meet defined quality standards and are safe for production deployment. 


This role provides hands-on leadership across the full delivery lifecycle, defining test strategies, managing environments and data, and ensuring functional and non-functional requirements are thoroughly validated. 
A key accountability of the role is to define, govern, and continuously improve automation frameworks, ensuring engineering teams adopt consistent automation practices and that automation coverage targets are achieved across programs of work. 


Operating as a capability leader, the Quality Lead mentor's testers and quality engineers, uplift skills, and embeds best practices in test design, automation, and defect management. By partnering closely with engineers, delivery managers, and product teams, the role strengthens quality governance, promotes continuous improvement, and ensures technology changes are delivered with confidence, stability, and minimal operational risk ultimately supporting dependable retail operations and positive customer experiences across all Group brands


As you will be working across our core corporate platforms, extensive experience with SAP and Salesforce is a must have for this role.

About you and your skills


•    7+ years of hands-on testing experience, including leading QA teams or quality engineering practices across multiple projects and delivery environments. 
•    Strong experience testing SAP platforms (Success Factor, S/4HANA), integrations, and end-to-end business processes across corporate or enterprise systems. 
•    Experience working within Salesforce, Microsoft platforms (Dynamics, Power Platform, Azure), or other enterprise SaaS solutions (desirable but not mandatory) 
•    Proven ability to define, implement, and govern modern quality engineering practices, including shift-left approaches, testability, and automation-first ways of working. 
•    Demonstrated capability in building, enhancing, or governing test automation frameworks, and improving automation coverage in complex technology environments. 
•    Experience collaborating closely with engineers, architects, product managers, and business SMEs to ensure high-quality delivery across integrated systems. 
•    Strong understanding of functional, regression, UAT, performance, and API testing techniques, with hands-on involvement where necessary. 
•    Proven experience with test management and delivery tools such as JIRA X-ray, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or equivalent. 
•    Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and drive quality improvement initiatives across cross-functional teams
•    Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to influence and persuade outcomes / direction. 
•    Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. 
•    Market knowledge and experience in the delivery and management of retail and technology solutions. 
•    Financial and risk management skills. 
•    Stakeholder management skills. 
•    Demonstrated experience with a variety of licenced and open-source technologies, frameworks, scripting languages 
•    Demonstrated experience managing testing outcomes, both in terms of process and tools (e.g. Microfocus ALM, X-Ray for JIRA, etc)
