About the team
Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
About the role
The Project Manager will belong to one of our data product squads and will work closely with the product manager to deliver key data initiatives.
As a Project Manager your primary objectives will be to:
- Deliver complex technology initiatives to achieve business objectives.
- Manage project scope, cost, schedule and risks
- Deliver projects with high quality, meeting established Engineering standards.
- Establish and follow Agile processes to ensure high productivity, engagement and continuous improvement.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to ensure expectations for delivery are met or managed appropriately
Your primary responsibilities will be:
- Scope Management: Work with stakeholders to define requirements and scope, then manage scope and expectations
- Planning: Develop comprehensive project management plans to deliver project according to performance measures and achieve business outcomes
- Schedule Management: Develop and use schedules to manage work including external dependencies and impacts. Implement dependency management processes
- Financial Management: Establish estimates, seek funding approvals, manage forecasts and spend to budget across projects
- Quality Management: Build and implement a Quality Plan. Ensure the Quality Assessment Plans are refined and implemented
- Risk & Issue Management: Work with stakeholders to identify and manage risks and issues. Establish Risk and Issue Management Plans. Understand and manage risks external to the project
- Team Management: Establish and manage diverse and dispersed teams. Provide opportunities for the capability development of resources. Establish and maintain Resource Plans
- Governance and Reporting: Manage steering committees with project stakeholders. Ensure appropriate reporting, governance and control functions are implemented
About you and your skills
- At least 6 years in project management or other senior delivery roles
- Proven Project Management skills managing Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Communication, Risk, Procurement, Stakeholder Management and Integration
- Experience with delivery of projects through practical Agile & Lean methodologies
- Ability to guide and mentor members of the team and other PMs
- Successfully managed complex projects ie. projects that involve multiple functional areas, teams, technologies and critical systems.
- Proven delivery track record of leading data solutions within both an on-premise and cloud-based environment
- Experience in leading a team including coaching, having difficult conversations and providing feedback
- High level of flexibility with the ability to adapt to change
- Understanding of business intelligence & analytics applications within corporate environments
- Good understanding of retail domain
- Tertiary Qualification in Information Technology and/or Business or equivalent industry experience (desirable)
- Demonstrated awareness in applicable IT project management processes
- Exposure to agile tools and techniques
- Comfortable in resolving conflict and able to facilitate discussion on alternatives and different approaches
- Excellent strategic thinking with commercial acumen, stakeholder management and strong communication skills
