About the role
The Product Manager – Last Mile Execution leads the development and enhancement of Coles’ digital fleet capabilities to ensure home deliveries are safe, efficient, and consistently reliable. This role owns the product roadmap for driver-facing applications, navigation and journey management tools, and telematics integrations, ensuring these systems seamlessly support on-road execution and align with planning and dispatch platforms.
A key focus of the position is strengthening driver safety and compliance processes while leveraging telematics and safety data to enable real-time vehicle tracking, customer delivery updates, and dynamic re‑routing. The role also collaborates closely with technology vendors to uplift driver experience, improve vehicle safety, and boost fleet productivity through ongoing upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- Own the product vision and roadmap for driver-facing technology, including mobile apps, navigation tools, journey management, and telematics integration.
- Integrate telematics and vehicle data with planning and dispatch systems to provide real-time visibility, support operational decision-making, and enable proactive maintenance planning.
- Design and refine end-to-end driver workflows (pre-start, load, drive, deliver, return) with embedded safety and compliance steps.
- Define and track key performance metrics (e.g., speeding events, harsh braking, stops per hour, incident rates, maintenance alerts) to drive continuous improvement in safety and fleet reliability.
- Lead and develop one or more Associate Product Managers.
Key Experience Required
- 6+ years’ experience in product management, technology delivery, or operational leadership within logistics, last-mile delivery, fleet management, or mobility services.
- Proven track record delivering mobile or web products for drivers or frontline teams, ideally integrating navigation, telematics, or journey management features.
- Experience working with telematics systems and vehicle safety technologies, including using telematics data for driver behaviour monitoring and maintenance planning (preventive or predictive).
- Familiarity with integrating driver-facing tools with planning and dispatch platforms (e.g., TMS or last-mile execution systems).
- Demonstrated ability to interpret operational and telematics data to inform product decisions, improve safety compliance, and optimize fleet health and productivity.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including collaboration with vendors, engineering teams, and operational leaders.
- Clear and structured communication skills, with experience presenting to diverse audiences from frontline teams to senior leadership.
