About the team

Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.

We’re looking for a passionate and strategic Product Manager to join our team and help deliver digital products that make a real difference across our supermarkets, liquor, and group platforms. If you love solving complex problems, collaborating with diverse teams, and turning insights into impactful customer experiences — this is the role for you.

About the role

As a Product Manager, you’ll own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of products within your assigned retail domain. Reporting to a Senior Product Manager, you’ll define product requirements, prioritise features, and work closely with design, engineering, and operations to deliver solutions that are reliable, user-friendly, and aligned to enterprise direction.

You’ll use data, customer insights, and cross-functional collaboration to make informed decisions, drive continuous improvement, and maximise the value of every initiative. This role is critical in supporting Coles’ broader retail strategy, ensuring our digital products meet customer needs, deliver measurable business outcomes, and scale effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Delivery

  • Define clear product requirements and translate strategy into actionable backlogs and delivery outcomes.
  • Prioritise features using customer insights, analytics, and business value.
  • Partner with engineering, design, and operations to ensure successful delivery and adoption.
  • Balance customer needs, business goals, and technical feasibility to build reliable, scalable products.
  • Ensure adherence to governance frameworks, internal standards, and Coles values throughout the lifecycle.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and inspire people leaders and operations specialists, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Set, communicate, and track objectives aligned with domain and enterprise goals.
  • Coach and mentor team members, supporting capability development and career growth.
  • Promote a learning culture and identify opportunities to improve processes, experiences, and product quality.

Stakeholder & Business Partnership

  • Act as the primary point of contact for business and technology stakeholders regarding service performance, risks, and issue resolution.
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders to understand pain points and opportunities.
  • Provide transparent, data‑driven reporting on performance, risks, incidents, and priorities.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across all levels — including vendors, partners, and senior internal clients.

About you and your skills:

  • Minimum 3 years as a Product Manager with a track record of delivering measurable results for customers and the business.
  • Experience mentoring Associate Product Managers and contributing to product capability uplift.
  • Background in supporting digital channels in large, complex or digital‑first organisations.
  • Strong communication skills, able to rationalise design decisions and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, design, and marketing teams.
  • Deep understanding of the product lifecycle, agile methodologies, UX principles, usability, accessibility, and the broader digital ecosystem.
  • Ability to translate business and customer insights into compelling product concepts.
  • Trusted leadership style — you listen well, build consensus, and drive decisions when needed.
  • Tertiary qualifications are preferred.
