About the role

Reporting to the Head of Quality & Technical Standards, as Product Compliance Manager you will contribute to Coles’ due diligence defence by developing, implementing, and improving Own Brand strategic programs for product safety, compliance, quality, food defence and food fraud. By providing subject matter expertise in product safety, legislation, and testing standards for Own Brand products, you will identify and manage current and emerging product risks.

 

You will also:

  • Lead a team to deliver product safety Key Risk Indicators Complaints per million units (CPMU) and Returns per million units (RPMU) to nominated targets.
  • Develop and deliver accurate, comprehensive and timely reporting to the Audit & Risk committee (ELT & Board)
  • Act as a Coles Recall Coordinator and product safety Business Continuity alternate; ensuring currency of Product Recall and Business Continuity plans.
  • Develop and deliver a risk-based product testing program utilising expert external laboratories.
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain chemical and microbiological standards and shelf-life guidelines for Own Brand food products and their suppliers.
  • Represent Coes in external forums on product safety.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of Coles’ Food Defence program.

 

About you and your skills

  • Tertiary degree in Food Science or Microbiology
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a senior role with a state or federal regulator managing food safety compliance.
  • Or senior experience in a Quality assurance role with a national fresh food supplier
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management, HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, microbiological, chemical and food allergen analysis.
  • Confident stakeholder management and engagement skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
