At Coles, we’re on an ambitious technology transformation journey — and we’re looking for a dynamic Portfolio Manager to lead the charge in the Integration space.
About the role:
In this exciting role, you will oversee the performance, delivery, and people leadership of a portfolio spanning Integration-as-a-Service and Enterprise Technology initiatives. You’ll be accountable for ensuring delivery excellence across critical integration projects, meeting strategic goals, and supporting high-performing engineering teams.
You’ll thrive at the intersection of technology and business, leading a passionate team of professionals delivering the platforms, APIs, events, and connectivity solutions that power Coles Group’s future.
This is a pivotal opportunity for someone who wants to have a major impact on a fast-moving, nationally critical environment, while developing their leadership and technical portfolio at enterprise scale.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead a team of integration professionals (Project managers, engineers, analysts, tech leads) to deliver high-impact technology projects and platforms.
- Articulate and communicate the Integration and Engineering vision, strategy, and roadmaps to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Drive innovation through proof of concepts, promoting early adoption of new integration patterns, frameworks, and technologies.
- Partner closely with platform, engineering, and business teams to translate technical capabilities into business value, ensuring robust and scalable integration solutions.
- Engage extensively with customers, partners, and internal business units to gather insights, advocate for platform adoption, and continuously improve service offerings.
- Establish trust and credibility with key stakeholders through proactive communication, governance, and results-driven delivery.
- Own the delivery governance of the portfolio — managing timelines, budgets, risk, and scope, while ensuring quality outcomes.
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities that reflect Coles’ team vision and values, fostering a culture of collaboration, empowerment, and accountability.
- Champion integration best practices, standards, and continuous improvement across teams and projects.
- Partner with Integration Architects and manage intake pipeline to drive prioritised, strategic delivery of integration initiatives across the enterprise.
- Ensure stakeholder visibility of integration platform status, health, roadmaps, and business impact through clear reporting and advocacy.
About You and Your Skills: - Minimum 10 years of senior IT experience, with significant time spent in integration, middleware, or platform delivery environments.
- Proven track record of leading integration or platform-focused teams in hybrid cloud, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong technical knowledge of integration patterns, APIs, eventing, message queues (e.g., Kafka), and cloud-based architectures.
- Demonstrated experience in managing technical dependencies, platform risks, and operational resilience considerations.
- Deep understanding of operating models, delivery frameworks, and enterprise technology environments, including agile, waterfall and hybrid models.
- Strong capability in strategic planning, resource management, and continuous improvement for technology delivery.
- Advanced ability to design, implement, and measure objectives and outcomes for integration and technology projects.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills — influencing at all levels across technical and business domains.
- Experience engaging with external vendors, development partners, and enterprise stakeholders to drive integration outcomes.
- Solid understanding of engineering principles, products, and services in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, ideally with a technical background in integration platforms.
- Passionate about building and leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced and strategically critical area of the business.
