About the role
Step into an exciting and high-impact role as a Nature & Biodiversity Manager. You will report into the Head of Sustainability Governance and Engagement and support the delivery of the Coles Group Sustainability Strategy. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop programs and initiatives across Coles in support of a coordinated and strategic approach to Coles’ nature-related risks and opportunities.
You will:
- Design and develop strategic programs and initiatives to support delivery of Coles’ Nature Roadmap, meeting stakeholder expectations and disclosure requirements
- Develop and manage the delivery of Coles’ water efficiency strategy
- Engage with external subject matter experts, NGOs, and industry bodies to inform and implement nature and biodiversity initiatives at Coles
- Support business units to engage with suppliers to understand and measure Coles’ nature-related risks and opportunities, in line with TNFD guidance
- Support with any documentation review and preparation for Board papers, Sustainability Steering Committee, and other sustainability-related cross functional working groups
- Support Coles’ communication team with the development of nature-related content for distribution through internal and external communication channels
Please note this is a 12-month maternity leave contract.
About you and your skills
We’re looking for a confident and resilient professional with deep technical expertise in nature and biodiversity – someone who can lead with influence and deliver meaningful, measurable impact on the ground.
You’ll also have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in sustainability, either within a corporate environment engaging internal stakeholders, suppliers and consultants or through environmental consulting/policy development
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field e.g. Science/Engineering/Law
- Project management experience of complex programs of work
- Demonstrated strong organisation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate and adapt within a fast-paced culture of change
