<h3>About the role</h3>
As Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the strategic direction for engineering design, sustainability, and lifecycle optimization. This role combines technical expertise with leadership to deliver high-value outcomes across large-scale projects. Your key responsibilities:
- Define and implement standards for mechanical and electrical systems, driving value engineering and innovation.
- Lead project planning and delivery for major rollouts, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks are met.
- Oversee procurement strategies for HVAC and electrical assets, balancing cost efficiency with performance.
- Manage external consultants and contractors to deliver complex engineering solutions seamlessly.
- Drive sustainability initiatives, integrating energy-efficient technologies and aligning with corporate environmental goals.
- Optimise asset deployment and lifecycle performance to minimise costs and maximise operational efficiency.
- Present strategic engineering roadmaps to senior leaders, incorporating global trends and emerging technologies.
- Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and champion a safety-first culture across all projects.
- Monitor performance against KPIs, budgets, and benchmarks, implementing corrective actions where needed.
<h3>About you and your skills</h3>
You’re a seasoned engineering leader with a passion for innovation and sustainability. You combine technical depth with strategic vision and thrive in complex, fast-paced environments. What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Proven experience in designing, costing, and managing building services engineering projects for large-scale retail or commercial environments.
- Expertise in HVAC systems and electrical infrastructure, including sustainability frameworks (Green Star, NABERS).
- Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering national programs on time and within budget.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple external consultants and vendors.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills at all levels.
- Commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization.
- Commitment to driving sustainability and innovation in engineering design.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts clearly.
