About the Role 

 

 

We are currently searching for a senior and experienced employment lawyer to lead our P&C Legal and Governance team on a 12 month fixed-term full-time contract. 


We are looking for someone who has a passion for complex employment law matters and can apply a strategic, commercial lens to resolving issues that arise in the people space.  You will provide legal advice and partner with the business on employment law matters, while leading a team of experienced lawyers and workplace relations professionals. In addition, you will have the opportunity to further develop the P&C governance framework and work with professionals across P&C and the broader business. 


This role is suitable for candidates looking to develop their leadership experience from private practice or candidates with in-house experience at a large employer. Experience in leading high performing teams and working with an ASX listed organisation is helpful.

 


 
You’ll also be:

 

 

•    Leading a high performing team of lawyers and workplace relations professionals to resolve dynamic and complex workplace issues.   
•    Provide strategic, commercial legal advice on a variety of employment law matters, including workforce restructures, employment litigation, complex investigations, disciplinary matters, discrimination issues and termination of employment matters.    
•    Develop the P&C governance framework and assist with compliance projects. 

 


 
About you and you skills

 

 

•    Legal qualification
•    Current practicing certificate  
•    Extensive level of PQE experience in employment law – e.g. PQE 7+
•    Experience managing complex employment law matters in large organisations
•    In-house, secondment and leadership experience preferred   
•    Ability to manage a variety of stakeholders and manage a team
•    Capacity to handle change in a fast-paced environment
•    Strong interpersonal and influencing skills; self-confidence
•    Strong client and results focus, motivated with can-do attitude
•    Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
