The role


We are currently searching for a junior to mid-level experienced commercial lawyer to join our team. You will provide legal advice and participate in strategic decision to ensure continuing commercial success of this business. Great opportunities for career development!


This role would be suitable for candidates looking to come out of an entry-mid level position from private practice and who are looking to break into an industry-based role. Experience is preferred, but consideration will also be given to those looking to build their skills and learn within a supportive team environment



What you'll be doing


  • Autonomously work across all steps of the procurement process – project development, tender, contract negotiation, managing supplier issues/ disputes
  • Leading, drafting and negotiating both routine and complex commercial transactions and contracts, including major projects, business process outsourcing, operations and maintenance initiatives
  • Maintain a sound understanding of the regulatory and operational environments Coles operates in, to enable provision of suitable legal and risk advice, including data security, privacy
  • Work across a variety of contract types: supply of goods/services, equipment leasing, maintenance, MSA, digital - SaaS, iPaaS, software and hardware development, hosting and maintenance
  • Continuous improvement initiatives in the legal team and demonstrated experience in technical or legal systems innovation are a bonus



Good things you'll need


  • Mid to top tier training in private practice or Top 100 ASX in-house environment
  • Exposure to Procurement/IT/Data/Digital
  • Current practising certificate
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Highly customer focused and committed to timely resolution of issues in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage a variety of stakeholders
  • Capacity to handle change in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills; self-confidence
  • Strong client and results focus, motivated with can-do attitude
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities #LI-PC
