About the Role.
As the Learning Design Innovation Lead, you’ll play a strategic and hands-on leadership role in designing, developing, and delivering impactful learning solutions. You’ll lead a high-performing team and collaborate across disciplines to ensure our learning programs are aligned with business goals and future capability needs. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on innovation, stakeholder engagement, and driving excellence in learning design.
About Your Skills.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- Over 5 years of experience in Learning, Organisational Development, or Project Management.
- Proven expertise in end-to-end learning design across diverse projects and methodologies.
- Strong capability in designing both digital and face-to-face learning assets.
- Experience working within dynamic resourcing models is highly regarded.
- A passion for innovation and continuous improvement in learning practices.
Qualifications.
You’ll have one or more of the following:
- Graduate or Post-Graduate qualifications in Business, Human Resources, Adult Education, or Psychology.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (highly regarded).
- Equivalent workplace experience with demonstrated professional development (including short courses and certifications).
Key Responsibilities.
- Partner with Capability Managers and Learning Partners to interpret briefs and guide design direction.
- Execute the Annual Learning Cycle and New Initiative Prioritisation and resource allocation.
- Execute annual learning plans in alignment with Capability Leadership.
- Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of learning assets at each project stage.
- Research and apply external best practices in learning design and delivery.
- Stay current with learning innovations and trends.
- Co-design innovative learning formats for organisational use.
- Contribute to process mapping and template development for the 5Ds framework.
- Define and uphold quality standards across all stages of the 5Ds.
- Embed project planning, stage gate approvals, and pitch panel processes.
- Maintain and update the Work Effort Estimator tool.
- Design reporting frameworks to support decision-making on resourcing and prioritisation.
- Oversee vendor management, including sourcing, performance evaluation, and feedback.
- Drive efficiency and effectiveness across the Design team through reporting and evaluation.
- Implement learner assessment and evaluation frameworks.
- Standardise and promote PIR templates across the team.
- Manage program budgets for the Design team.
- Coach and develop team members, fostering innovation and growth.
- Build succession plans and support career development within the team.
- Conduct regular 1:1s and ensure action on feedback (e.g., MySay survey).
- Ensure every team member has a development plan and is actively progressing.
- Uphold compliance with Coles values, policies, procedures, and relevant laws and regulations.
