About the role
As the Finance Business Partner - Sustainability, you will be providing trusted financial partnership to support Coles’ ESG and sustainability targets, embedding sustainability within our commercial teams. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Partner with Commercial Sustainability as a trusted Finance Business Partner, providing financial information, analysis, tools and insights to support informed decision-making and business strategy.
- Challenge thinking and influence outcomes through commercial insight, shaping and driving key strategic initiatives.
- Ensure ESG objectives are embedded across planning, capital allocation, risk management and decision-making, supporting delivery of Coles’ externally committed sustainability targets.
- Provide commercial and financial support to ensure modelling, assumptions and data are robust, accurate and commercially sound.
- Support end-to-end project delivery including funding approvals, forecasting, performance tracking and risk identification.
- Deliver monthly and quarterly financial reporting for senior forums including LT sessions, Commercial Leadership Team packs and Quarterly Business Reviews.
- Build strong stakeholder alignment across Finance and Commercial teams, engaging with GMs, Heads of, Senior Finance Managers, FBPs, project managers and cross-functional partners across risk, strategy and financial control.
About you and your skills
- CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- Experience in a business partnering role, ideally within retail, FMCG or environments with enterprise‑wide sustainability commitments.
- Familiarity with climate change economics and decarbonisation levers desirable.
- Demonstrated experience with sustainability decisions impacting margin and pricing.
- Strong exposure to ESG frameworks, climate risk and investment decisions.
- Proven ability to analyse data and translate it into meaningful, actionable commercial insights.
- Experience producing and presenting insightful commercial and financial reports, including recommendations to support decision-making.
- Background in implementing change and continuous improvement initiatives that deliver value and improved business outcomes.
