About the role


This 6 month fixed-term opportunity is for a Finance Business Partner - Loss, where you will provide hands‑on finance support for loss management initiatives across Coles Supermarkets. You’ll turn complex data into clear, actionable insights, support key business cases and help drive cross‑functional initiatives that improve loss and inventory outcomes. Your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Providing finance support for loss management across Coles Supermarkets.
  • Generating analytics and delivering fact‑based insights to support stronger commercial decisions.
  • Driving and measuring cross‑functional initiatives to mitigate loss and optimise inventory, including identifying and managing risks and opportunities.
  • Supporting governance of business processes, ensuring appropriate audit trails and policy adherence.
  • Developing business cases for new initiatives, tracking costs and benefits, and completing post‑investment reviews.
  • Identifying and defining process and system improvements that enhance delivery of business objectives.
  • Coaching stakeholders on the financial implications of BAU operational decision‑making on loss and inventory performance.
 

About you and your skills


You’re a commercially‑minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with the business and influencing outcomes, even in complex and fast‑moving environments. Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • CA/CPA coupled with demonstrated finance experience in a retail or FMCG environment.
  • Exposure to loss‑related finance or inventory environments (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong experience preparing, analysing and interpreting financial information to identify opportunities, risks and alternate actions.
  • Strong data analysis and financial modelling capability, with the ability to translate data into clear commercial insights.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders simultaneously, including influencing non‑financial stakeholders.
  • A proven ability to challenge constructively and influence stakeholders to deliver win‑win outcomes.
  • Confidence managing competing priorities and expectations.
  • A collaborative, team‑oriented working style.
