About the role

As the Finance Business Partner - Capital Governance, you will shape high‑quality capital investment decisions by providing independent financial challenge, insight, and governance. You will work closely with senior leaders to ensure major investments are well understood, appropriately governed, and aligned to strong commercial outcomes. Please note: This role is a 12 month fixed term contract with view to permanency. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Review and challenge capital business cases before submission for executive and Board approval
  • Lead investment review sessions to assess rationale, risks, returns, and strategic alignment
  • Prepare clear and concise decision summaries for senior executives
  • Strengthen capital reporting through deeper performance and return analysis
  • Ensure investment approvals follow delegation, budget, and governance requirements
  • Coordinate executive and Board capital forums, including papers, agendas, minutes, and advice
  • Lead post‑implementation reviews to assess outcomes versus expectations
  • Embed lessons learned into future business cases to improve decision quality
  • Lead, coach, and develop a graduate, including workflow planning and capability growth
  • Deliver ad hoc commercial analysis to support executive decision‑making and capital discipline

 

About you and your skills

You are a commercially minded finance professional with strong experience influencing and governing capital investment decisions in complex environments. You will bring:

  • CA or CPA qualified with experience in retail, FMCG, or similarly complex organisations
  • Strong commercial acumen with understanding of capital drivers across P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
  • Proven experience preparing, reviewing, and challenging large and complex business cases
  • Broad finance background across FP&A, financial control, and commercial decision support
  • Advanced analytical and problem‑solving capability with the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, able to break down complex data into clear executive insights
  • Excellent planning and prioritisation skills in fast‑paced environments
