Our Finance team are a vital partner in every aspect of our business, providing commercial insights to drive our success and influence everything we do. With presence in every department, we analyse performance, and deliver actionable insights that shape our strategic decisions.

About the role 

 

The Supermarkets Planning & Performance team is a newly created team that brings together the Commercial, Operations, Digital and Property, Financial Planning & Performance teams from across the business. This role reports to the Senior Finance Manager – Supermarkets Planning & 
Performance (Commercial)
and partners closely with the Commercial Finance team, to lead Planning & Performance for Commercial Investments & Cost of Doing Business (CODB).

 

You will be responsible for:

 

  • Leading the annual planning and quarterly forecast cycles focusing on continuous improvement and ensuring alignment across stakeholders
  • Providing insight into Commercial Investments and CODB performance to support monthly, quarterly and half/full year reporting requirements. This includes understanding key historical trends and its impact on forecast performance
  • Owning the R&O process for the Commercial business ensuring clear and timely communication of risks/opportunities to all relevant parties
  • Providing project support for Commercial operating model changes
  • Creating insightful and concise written presentations for Commercial and Executive Leadership Teams to communicate performance and drive action
  • Supporting the finance transformation of planning by working cross functionally to align and simplify Planning and Performance processes across the business
  • Manage relationships with the wider Supermarkets Planning & Performance team, Group Planning & Reporting, Group Capital, and other finance teams within the Supermarkets business

 

 

About you and your skills 

 

We are looking for a naturally curious Finance Business Partner with strong commercial acumen, a structured approach to planning and reporting, confidence influencing stakeholders through data-driven storytelling and capable of navigating complex problems and ambiguity.

 

You will also ideally have:

 

  • Relevant finance experience in the Retail/FMCG sectors preferable
  • CA/CPA or similar qualification preferable but not essential
  • Ability to link strategy and financial performance to provide a clear and compelling narrative
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; an ability to make the complex simple
  • Proven Excel and financial modelling skills
  • Ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders across all levels of the organisation
