About the role


We have an exciting and unique opportunity for an Engineering Manager to lead our engineering function in Coles stores fulfilment. This role oversees a critical platform supporting the fulfilment of online orders in Coles.

 

As an Engineering Manager, you'll be leading, growing multiple engineering squads. You’ll work side-by-side with product teams; delivery leads and business stakeholders to ensure that systems are not only fit for purpose but also scalable for future growth that align to our roadmaps. You’ll also build relationships with other technical leaders to share ideas and best practice, as well as maintain close alignment with the wider company. You’ll know you’ve made an impact when the teams deliver high-quality software quickly and consistently to our customers.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead a team of engineers who are working to build Coles Liquor’s platforms
  • Mentor, grow, and empower the team by giving them the skills, confidence and motivation to make decisions
  • Help the individuals on your team to build and execute personal development plans that align with the team’s goals and objectives
  • Take an active role in prioritizing the roadmap for Coles Liquor
  • Drive cross-team and cross-org alignment in engineering, business and product teams
  • Participate in deep technical design discussions within your team, and across partner teams, and ensure that we're building the right systems and keeping the quality high
  • Drive our technology roadmap and quarterly goals
  • Clearly communicate what we are building and why to deliver the best products and align with all teams in the business
  • Partnering with the customer and other enterprise partners as part of an integrated project team to deliver on engineering requirements

    

 

About You

 

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in .NET (.NET 8+ with strong C#)
  • 3+ years’ experience managing a team of 5 or more engineers on projects in the areas of: event-driven systems, customer facing web and app, infrastructure management,
  • Hands-on experience with software at a corporate high standard
  • Experience leading and hiring a team that builds and runs tools and platforms
  • Excel at planning and overseeing execution to meet commitments and deliver with predictability
  • Incident root cause analysis and follow-ups
  • Incident management
  • Comfortable managing teams/projections with deadlines and short release cycles
  • Experience running and maturing distributed systems
  • Experience developing tools and APIs
  • Comfortable collaborating and co-ordinating on cross-team projects and workflows
  • Provide a strong technical vision for systems and infrastructure teams
  • Experience building services and systems, have successfully taken projects from inception to production, and are comfortable diving in to provide leadership for major projects when needed
