About the team

 

Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.

About the role 

As Engineering Lead-SAP Integration, you’ll provide technical and people leadership across a key technology domain, helping shape engineering strategy and delivering high-quality solutions aligned with our architecture and business objectives. 

Working closely with architecture, product and delivery teams, the role will set technical direction, guide solution design and champion engineering best practice across cloud, DevOps, CI/CD, automation and continuous testing.  

A key focus will be building engineering capability, improving delivery outcomes and creating scalable, secure and fit-for-purpose solutions.  

The role also leads and develops a team of engineers, creating a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing culture while influencing senior stakeholders and driving continuous improvement across the engineering landscape.  

A strong background in software engineering and technical leadership within large, complex enterprise environments will be essential. Significant SAP BTP experience is a core requirement for this position, including experience working across SAP platforms and their integration within broader enterprise technology environments. 

Strong experience across modern engineering practices, cloud, DevOps and CI/CD is important, together with a track record of leading and developing engineering teams.  

You have previous experience working and influencing senior stakeholders, navigating technical complexity and translating engineering strategy into practical delivery outcomes will be key. 

 

About you and your skills 

You'll bring deep SAP engineering experience and a track record of leading teams and delivering technology outcomes in large, complex environments. You'll be comfortable moving between technical detail, strategic thinking and stakeholder leadership. 

  • At least 10 years’ experience in SAP software engineering.  
  • 5 years’ experience leading teams or directing work, as an Engineering Lead across technology platforms (such as SAP Integration, BTP etc.) in an agile environment. 
  • Experience delivering large programs of work, including operation support.  
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing technical solutions in large scale, complex and distributed environments.  
  • Advanced understanding of all aspects of the technology’s broader operational environment (i.e., processes, procedures, associated toolsets, operating systems, etc.).  
  • Strong engineering experience, including demonstrated success with implementing self-service technology platform solutions.  
  • Experience with the agile development process and developing code in alignment with coding standards and business processes.  
  • A proven track record in people management and experience in building and leading teams.  
  • Experience managing relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of licenced and open-source technologies, frameworks, scripting languages (e.g. NodeJS, ReactJS, TypeScript, .Net Core, Python, Kafka, Data Bricks, etc).  
  • Extensive experience with testing aspects of DevOps including IaC for continuous testing purposes using tools such as Bamboo, Jenkins, Terraform or Azure DevOps, Azure Dev Analytics, Docker, GIT.  
  • Demonstrated experience with creating Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) test automation frameworks compatible with diverse technology stacks.  
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, products, and services in a hybrid cloud environment, with a technical background.  
  • Proven capabilities in vendor, partner and stakeholder relationship management including the negotiation and management of outsource agreements and delivery to agreed service levels.  
  • Success in enabling the launch of high quality and business critical products, in a complex enterprise production environment.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence and persuade outcomes / direction.  
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.  
  • Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills
