About the role


We have an exciting opportunity to join our Legal team as Employee Relations (ER) Manager.  In this role you will be responsible for providing ER leadership and advice across every aspect of employment / industrial law within the collective remit of the ER Team to support the strategic direction of the business. Partner with Coles Group business units to develop ER strategies inclusive of a roadmap to deliver a step change in the current environment, focusing on future business needs.

 

You’ll also:

•    Provide ER advice for new business initiatives, and projects. 
•    Manage the bargaining cycle for multiple and varied enterprise agreements (end to end), including strategy formation, planning, pre-negotiation, negotiation, implementation and approval. 
•    Play an active and pivotal leading role in enterprise agreement negotiations. 
•    Undertake relevant advocacy, primarily at the Fair Work Commission, related to enterprise agreement bargaining, dispute resolution and/or industrial action that has a collective impact. 
•    Monitor the external ER environment to identify key trends/issues that may impact Coles. 
•    Identify, manage and support compliance work and regulatory authority matters
•    Identify, manage and support legal changes that impact Coles’ industrial environment 
•    Primarily manage and engage with external trade unions, employer associations and other relevant external parties.

 

About you and your skills


 
•    Strong proven experience in employee relations/employment law (including a legal and/or ER/IR qualification)
•    Ability to Develop and implement strategic ER plans to assist Coles Group achieve its goals/business strategy.
•    Experience and understanding of the ER factors impacting a retail and supply chain environment. 
•    Experience in dealing with unions and industrial tribunals. 
•    Strong stakeholder management, internal networking potential, , and influencing skills. 
•    Strong experience in negotiating enterprise agreements, including preparatory phases related to effective bargaining.
•    Team player with demonstrated experiences in working with various stakeholders and varied business partners.
