About the team

As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
Technology is the backbone of our business. Every day, our team solves complex and meaningful problems. Those solutions help thousands of our fellow team members succeed and make millions of customers’ lives easier every day.
As part of the broader Technology team, our team partners with the business to deliver efficiency and innovation for Coles as the leading retail supply chain network in Australia.
The supply chain domain spans every link in our network—from regional warehouses and transport fleets to automated distribution centres, meat and milk manufacturing plants, retail-ready meat facilities, and customer fulfilment centres. It’s the backbone that moves inventory smoothly from source to shelf, ensuring products are available when and where customers expect them.
About the role
This role is your opportunity to shape the future of Coles’ supply chain, driving efficiency, resilience, and customer delight across Australia’s leading retail network.
We’re looking for a strategic and experienced Domain Architect to lead the architectural direction of our Supply Chain Network—a mission-critical domain that underpins our retail operations and customer experience.
In this senior leadership role, you’ll define and evolve the domain’s architecture roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and enabling scalable, secure, and future-ready platforms. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across Technology, Product, and Engineering to guide solution design, influence key decisions, and embed architectural governance.
This role offers the opportunity to drive transformation, modernise legacy systems, and introduce innovative technologies that deliver measurable business value.
A background in retail and a strong understanding of supply chain operations are highly desirable, ensuring you can design solutions that are practical, customer-focused, and aligned with the complexities and realities of end-to-end supply chain environments.
About you and your skills
• 10+ years in technology architecture roles, including experience as a lead or enterprise architect in complex, enterprise environments.
• Deep understanding of end-to-end retail supply chain processes (warehousing, transport, automated DCs, manufacturing, fulfilment).
• Familiarity with fresh-food manufacturing environments (meat, milk, retail-ready meat plants) and cold-chain requirements.
• Proven experience into omni-channel retail fulfilment models, last-mile delivery, and customer-centric logistics.
• Proven experience defining domain or enterprise-level architecture strategies and roadmaps and aligning them to business priorities and enterprise goals.
• Demonstrated experience in influencing and implementing strategic planning and organisational structure, including operating models and functional designs, and enabling enterprise objective alignment.
• Demonstrated leadership in architectural governance, design authority and standards definition, embedding architecture effectively within agile delivery environments.
• Proven impact in optimising cost, risk and value outcomes through architectural decision making.
• Deep expertise in architecture frameworks and practices, such as TOGAF, Zachman, or similar – formal certification is advantageous.
• Solid knowledge of data architecture and governance principles, including regulatory and compliance considerations in enterprise environments.
• Excellent systems thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex technology landscapes and design fit-for-purpose solutions.
If you’re passionate about architecture as a strategic enabler and thrive in complex, fast-paced environments, we’d love to hear from you.
