About the role

Every day, thousands of Supermarkets Store Managers and Department Managers rely on the information provided via our store communications to motivate and engage 80,000+ team members and serve their customers and communities. 

If you love being at the centre of everything, want to build your network and thrive on variety, our Communications & Planning Partner role provides an exciting opportunity for a high-performing individual. 

 

As a Communications & Planning Partner, you will own a range of partnerships with Support Centre stakeholders and work with them to plan activity and land communications with our Supermarkets and Distribution Centre teams across the country. 

You’ll be set up for success to manage written communications, video production, intranet publishing, activity planning and more as part of a close-knit team. 
 
What you’ll be doing

You’ll work with business partners to develop clear, compelling communications and support documents for Supermarkets and Distribution Centre teams. You’ll lead the way providing communications support and advice, making decisions on communication timing, audience, channels, stakeholder impacts, reputational risks and opportunities.
 
You’ll also play a key role scheduling business activity in Supermarkets and Distribution Centres to achieve a balanced plan of change and trade activity, in line with the Coles strategy.
 
Other ways you can make an impact include:

  • using established communication tools and channels to deliver the right message at the right time to the right audience
  • ensuring all communication is simple, compelling and easy to understand 
  • working with the Operations team to approve all communication and documentation in-line with operating standards
  • sharing on-call responsibilities with other Communications team members on a rotating basis
  • scheduling activities on the Activity Plan that optimise capacity and minimise risk of activity overload
  • influencing state leadership teams and activity owners to resolve scheduling conflicts

 
Good things you’ll need

  • exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to manage stakeholder expectations / influence outcomes
  • knowledge of store operations is highly desirable
  • the ability to multitask, prioritise workload, meet deadlines and focus on continuous improvement
  • a high attention to detail, quality control and customer focus
  • experience developing professional communications and documentation, including writing, proof reading and editing
  • experienced using Microsoft Office Suite e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook 
  • a degree or equivalent business qualification in communications, writing / editing is highly desirable
  • basic web content management experience, database management and knowledge of Adobe programs such as Acrobat and InDesign is highly desirable
